Journal 12: My major is Medical Biology on the Pre-Med track. This is essentially a course of study that sets you up for a higher level of education, whether it be graduate schools, a masters program, doctorate program or medical school. For me specifically I am heading towards medical school, I am currently finishing up my applications now. There aren’t many questions about my major that I have. The med kids at here have been shown every step up of way what we will be doing and where we will be going with our futures once we graduate. In terms of my future, I know that medical school next year is the plan and then heading on to residency and then securing a real physician position is the goal. My overall career goal is to be a pediatric doctor, I have always wanted to be a doctor and have always wanted to work with kids. When it comes to the type of pediatric physician I want to be, well that’s up in the air. I waffle back and forth about doing something clinical, like primary care, or working within a hospital as a pediatric oncologist. But either way, I know that the medical field is where I will spending my career days.

The curriculum in my major relies on the requirement course for a liberal arts education that we are provided at UNE as well as our extended list of science related courses. I think many of these classes have been helpful for my studies, especially for the MCAT that I will be taking this summer. But other classes have been used to further my knowledge in general fields of study, rather than something specialized. When digging into the medical biology relam of jobs, there are many options that you can take. Lab jobs are easily obtainable with a bachelors degree, but you can then move forward towards a job with higher levels of education. This major and career path is not for everyone, you really do have to want to create a higher level of learning and really be ready to immerse yourself for years into your work. There is such a variety within medical field that there will be something for everybody.

Journal 13: Since last class as a group have come up with our name and logo. Personally I have created specific questions for myself and my major that Khloe will be able to ask during our talk show, and seeing how we are going move along with the talk show itself. We have really just been creating ways to make the talk show fun and make it a way for us to all highlight the importance of our majors, and what they mean to us. I think moving forward, we need to start creating ways for us to combine all of our majors and questions. Working on the details and getting the kinks out of our speech and how we will run the talk show itself will really be what needs to be focused on this week. Preparing questions, and answers to the questions as well as creating segments and portions of the talk show to make it engaging to our audience while also being able to give the most amount of information about what we all are studying and why.

Journal 14: After watching our dry-dry run video I think we seemed very confident in our speech. We chose a really awesome name, which I think fits the majors we all have and the tracks we all are going on. Our questions were very vague, for Khloe to ask, which gave us a better way to get into detail about our specific majors. I think our ability to work well off of each other and to be super cohesive and have chemistry is really important. Going forward editing the questions to give us more time to take up and create things that will be better to involve Khloe will be really important. Overall I am happy with how the dry dry run came out and am looking forward to the dry run and to create our final project.

Journal 15: After watching our dry run, and thinking back to the dry dry run, I am really happy about where we are going into preparation and filming of the final speech. The feedback that we received in class today, after our dry run, was really informative. Everyone was on the same page saying that we were very conversationalist and had an easy connection with one another, and I think that is our strength. We created a script where we made it easy for us to work together, bounce off each other and to create more of a conversation. Jesse brought up adding more about what “The Medicine Cabinet” is itself and I think adding that will be really important. Moving on toward the final presentation and filming, I think if we just clean things up and finalize the last details about our game segment, we will be able to fit everything into the allotted time. Overall I am really happy with how we have progressed thus far and how we have created a speech that fits in all of our majors and feels more like a conversation.
