Active Reading

This first homework that I picked showed my ability to critically read a paper and understand the authors ideas. After I showed the screenshots of me understanding details that was in the text I then answered a few questions which really tested my knowledge of the section we had just read. I think this homework was a good example of me using my own knowledge to understand the paper and really connect my opinion and ideas to Coates argument.

I chose this blog post because it shows my ability to bring together the ideas of more than one author. I connect the ideas from authors Scheuer and Ungar to the ideas of UNE’s Core Handbook. I then also bring together the ideas of Scheuer/Ungar with my classes that I am taking that pertain to UNE’s Core Curriculum. This homework shows my ability to bring together three sources that seem to not be connected but make them work in a Barclay Style Paragraphs.

This homework I picked is very similar to the previous homework but it does fit in a way for me to combine ideas in a Barclay’s Paragraph. I used the ideas that were talked about in Ungar’s paper and how it can work with the ideas of our Core Handbook at UNE. This contrast between the two articles shows my ability to read critically and introduce ideas from one text into the ideas of another text.

The last assignment I picked is different from the rest. This one has the ideas the I just read in the paper by Scheuer. I didn’t bring in the ideas from any other work besides my own opinion on the text. I then wrote what I thought each section was about and brought in key evidence that backed up my claim. I think that this homework showed my ability to critically read a paper and still be able to make judgements and ideas about it without having to bring in another source.
