Resources

The Ripich Commons:

This is a premier location on the UNE Biddeford campus with study areas, food and beverage options, and even a place for personal time to help one’s mental health with a TV, pool table, foosball table, and more.  The Ripich Commons consists of three levels and is located in the heart of the Biddeford campus.  The first floor is essentially a large living room with lots of comfortable places to sit where students tend to take care of their academics with groups of friends.  The Pub, a popular food and beverage location, is also on the first floor.  The second floor consists of more study areas, quiet rooms for private studying, multiple printing stations, as well as a hallway connecting to the library.  The third floor is where you will find the main dining hall on the Biddeford campus.

Student Academic Success Center (SASC):

The Student Academic Success Center, also known as SASC, is on the second floor of the Commons. Located behind the study rooms in Room 206, SASC is the hub of tutors. In SASC you are able to schedule appointments with peer tutors to help in a majority of subjects. There is always someone there who is able to help you with something. Where it be tutoring, peer coaching or just a kind conversation. You schedule specific one-hour appointments on TutorTrac, which is linked on your UNE Okta account. Or you can drop into office hours with specific tutors, if they are available. Almost all of the tutors in SASC are undergraduate students at UNE, or COM students if you are at the Osteopathic College. When you go to SASC you know you are going to be getting the best advice and help because it is coming from a real student who knows how hard college is. Being able to have this resource is very important, and could be considered a hidden gem on this campus.

Athletic training room

The athletic training room is used for varsity and club sport athletes. In the athletic training room there are 5 athletic trainers, 4 are for varsity athletes and 1 is used for club sport athletes. In the room there are also many student trainers that are there to help you as well. This room includes many different resources such as cold and hot tubs, massage guns, and other rehab methods to help you perform at your best. Each trainer is assigned to a specific sport and it allows them to help focus on you and your injury specifically. All of the trainers there will help you if they are free and your specific trainer is busy. Having this resource to help you out as an athlete is very beneficial to your overall performance in your sport. It is very beneficial to use this resource because the athletic trainers help you with rehab through injuries and also help you schedule a doctor’s appointment with a doctor specific to your injury.

Library

The Jack S. Ketchum Library is located in the middle of campus. Connecting to the third floor of the Commons, this is an easy and very popular spot for many students to go. On the main level of the library, there are a few seats and tables for students to do their homework in. This is a highly populated area, with students coming in and out headed to class or to the Commons. The front desk of the library is also located here, this is where you can get any help that you need from a trained staff. On the second floor of the library is where you find locked study rooms and silent study spaces. There are rooms located on this floor to help you get group work done easily. And there are also many locations up there for you to study independently in the quiet. On the first floor of the library are more locked study rooms and a lounge area for students to gather together. Windward cafe is also located on this level of the library, so while you are studying you have the opportunity to take a break and get yourself a snack or beverage.
